How  To Do MLA In-text citations and work sited page!

  • Your Work Cited page is the last page of your paper and should be numbered

  • It is titled "Work Cited"

  • Your entries are listed in alphabetical order using the author's name when able

  •  Different types of sources (journals, books, videos, websites, etc.) have different rules.

When inserting in-text citations:

  • Whenever you are using a source as evidence for your claims, you must identify that source within your writing, whether you use direct quotes or you paraphrase information.

  • When using quotes, citations should be punctuated and written thusly

    • Hunting is clearly reducing the risk of certain antelopes going extinct by giving ranchers a reason to increase breeding; even the US government agrees: "Hunting...provides an economic incentive for... ranchers to continue to breed these species" (CBS News, "Can Hunting...").

    • When using in-text citations for paraphrasing, you may make direct reference to the source in your writing, or place the parenthetical citation at the end of the sentence where you use the source information.

Term 2 RST Prompt

Essential Question/Essay Prompt: The United States utilizes the Electoral College to elect a President every four years.  As we saw this past November, citizens truly vote for electors to later cast a formal vote and thus select a particular candidate.  To win the election, 270 of a possible 538 Electoral College votes are required.  Each state possesses a predefined number of votes (based on population) that factor into this equation.  However, the result reveals a “winner take all” structure.  In past elections, there has been a vast disparity between Electoral College votes and the popular vote (i.e.: the total number of votes a candidate earns).  Small states end up becoming somewhat irrelevant in comparison to “swing states,” or large states with massive Electoral College figures.  Would it be best to revise our current election process in order to reassure that the candidate with the most votes wins?  Is the current system truly representative of who the country desires to be their next leader?  Use the sources provided to take a stance about keeping or abolishing the Electoral College in preparation for the 2020 Presidential Election.
